Medical Cards for Senior Citizens

My parents has medical card and I am a government servant so I am quite relieve about my parents access to medical facilities. However, I am worry about my MIL as she is 63 now, means her next birthday will be 64. Most of the standalone medical card offer entry age up to 65 years old only. MIL is currently working now and she is covered by her company insurance. However, I am scare she stopped work one day and cannot purchase any medical card.

So I went online and search the medical card which the premium can still be affordable within our budget:

1) Tokio Marine Medic Plus (deductible RM10k)

For RM100k annual limit, the annual premium is RM606.
Outpatient kidney is RM40k per year
No lifetime-limit

However, I am quite unsure it cover the take-home drug or not.

2) PRUSenior Med (Co-insurance 20%)

No mention of annual limit, but for lifetime limit is RM225k, the annual premium is RM3266.

3) Pacific Medi Major Plus (deductible RM10k)

Annual limit RM200k, Life-time limit RM600k
Outpatient kidney is RM60k per year
Annual premium RM1315

4) Zurich Z-MedProtect (deductible RM10k)

Annual limit RM100k
Annual Premium RM3000++

5) Etiqa E-medical Pass Takaful (deductible RM5k)

Annual limit RM80, no lifetime limit
Annual Premium RM2689

6) RHB MediSure Supreme Insurance (deductible RM10k)

Annual limit RM100k, lifetime limit RM1000k
Annual Premium RM1029
Medicines/Drugs are payable

7) Takaful myClick MediCare (deductible RM3k)

Annual limit RM75k, no lifetime limit
Annual limit RM2310

Based on my research, it seem that Tokio Marine Medic Plus has the cheapest premium. Maybe I will go for this. Consult husband first.

Review Insurance for Myself

My mum bought me an insurance in 2004, till now she still do not want to absolutely assigned the insurance to me because scare I surrender the insurance. She only did conditional assignment to me 2 years ago. T.T

My HLA insurance in 2004 is as below:

RM200 premium / month

Life RM100k
CI RM50k
R&B (150 days) RM100 <---- I think not enough
ICU (75 days) Full Reimbursement
Lodger (150 days) Full Reimbursement
Outpatient Cancer RM30k
Outpatient Kidney RM30k
Annual Limit RM50k
Lifetime Limit RM150k
Co-insurance RM300 or 10%, whichever higher
Medical insurance lapse at 70 years old. T.T
Optional Top-up per month RM50

My insurance cost now is as below:
Policy RM5
Life RM7.38
CI Rider RM5.42
MEDGLOBAL II 100 RM41.65 <-- I personally think this is overcharged

Seriously, I can even buy AXA e-Medic with RM1000 deductible at RM20k coverage per year without lifetime limit at RM34.99.

Because she refused to surrender the HLA 2004 insurance, that time I do not have other choice but to choose a deductible plan to cover me.

That time only HLA offers deductible RM20k before 60 years old, then RM0 deductible after 60 years old:

My HLA insurance in 2017 is as below:

RM150 premium / month

Life RM100k
CI RM100k
R&B (150 days) RM200
ICU (75 days) Full Reimbursement
Lodger (150 days) Full Reimbursement
Emergency Accident (30 days) Full Reimbursement
Overall Annual Limit RM1,120,000
No Lifetime Limit
LadyShield Rider RM50k
PA Rider RM50k

My insurance cost now is as below:

Policy RM5
Life RM8.23
CI Care RM9.42
LadyShield RM8.58
HLA MediShield II 200 (Pre 20k - Post 0) RM17.10
Million Extra RM3.92
PA Rider RM3.25

So the medical card cost for this insurance is actuall RM17.10 + RM3.92 = RM21.02

If combine both of my insurance:

RM350/month I will get:

Life RM200k
CI RM200k
Medical Card paying RM62.67/month for now (RM752 annually)

-------------------------------------------------------------
Great Eastern is doing promotion now, buying SmartMedic Million coverage can have additional 2 million coverage at no extra cost.

My GE agent also quoted me as below

RM250 premium / month

Life / TPD / 45 CI: RM150k
Medical Card: 1 million + 2 million
Deductible RM300

Cost of Insurance of SmartMedic Million is RM776 (annual) for my age now, which I think it is worth the upgrade.

Now when can I successfully persuade my mum to give up the old insurance

--------------------------

I also go through HLA Medishield III Rider, however the Cost of Insurance is RM870 (annual, R&B 200, no deductible) which is more expensive than GE one. However, it can be customize by deductibles.

---------------------

Prudential Medical Rider PruMed is around RM705 (annual,  R&B 200, deductible RM300)

Insurance for Infants

I missed the date to apply for preborn as I am pregnant over Week 35 now. So I am looking and searching for insurance for my newborn.

My husband has company insurance which covers RM35,000 (Overall per disability limit for Family Package) so I guess I can find for a medical insurance which has deductible to reduce my premium.

Prudential agent quoted me:

Monthly premium: RM90

Life sum assured: RM50,000

Accident death: RM20,000

Accident reimbursement: RM3,000

Essential Child Plus: RM50,000

Lifetime limit: RM1,000,000

Deductible: RM20,000

Allianz agent quoted me:

130/mth

Life 5k

Med 150

Annual limit 850k

Lifetime unlimited

Deductible 10k

CI (late stage) 100k

Waiver

Looks like Prudential is give a better value.

However, I think

The problem that makes me hard to choose is the Critical Illness.

Prudential Critical Illness

Essential Child Plus from Prudential covers

20%

(1) severe asthma,

(2) severe epilepsy, or

(3) glomerulonephritis with nephrotic syndrome

100%

(4) Leukeamia,

(5) Insulin Dependent Diabetes Melitus,

(6) Rheumatic Fever with Valvular impairment

(7) Kawasaki disease with heart complications

(8) Severe juvenile Rheumatiod Arthritis

(9) Intellectual impairment due to illness or accident

(10) Severe Haemophilia A and Hemophilia B

Allianz Critical Illness

I wish to purchase Child Guard from Allianz, but my agent say that insurance only for pre-born.

I think Allianz quote me for CI is HealthCover Plus which has additional 7 covers for juvenile but the catch is that it has Juvenile Lien.

So based on the Critical Illness analysis, I think I would just go for Prudential one as Juvenile Lien makes me feel weird.

So in conclusion, I would pick Prudential Insurance for my new born
