Coursework to finish in Christmas Break

At first I am so excited to complete my homework during the break because I have extra time compare to others who celebrate Christmas.

Now I am not.

Completing the courseworks is so boring and so stressful.

Why boring?
- You only stay in your small room and face laptop everytime

Why stressful?
- See everyone going to travel and shopping but I just couldn't! :/

I already spent 2 days producing unproductive result, hopefully tomorrow can produce some fruitful outcome.

Leave Malaysia? LOL

Sometimes I just dont understand why people want to to leave Malaysia because they did not get scholarship from the government. Is not written in your birth certificate that you will be guarantee a scholarship when you birth. Do you know that the government of other country do not even give scholarship as generous as our government to their citizen?

And so what you get a scholarship? You will then say Malaysia working system is lousy, corruption everywhere la bla bla bla and dont plan to return. Why not brilliant student like you go to do something for Malaysia?

No lah, I already been here 10 years ago.

When I see someone who look like Malaysian in London, I dare not ask where does him/her come from, I dare not ask how long does he/her had stayed here.

Because my heart break when I see talented Malaysian in worked for long time in London.

I still remember a conversation when we met one uncle at Oriental Market:

My friend: Uncle datang sini melancong ke?
Uncle: No lah, I already been here 10 years ago.

Macammana nak apply study overseas? Macammana nak mohon biasiswa?

2. DAFTAR UNIVERSITI
Selepas dah tahu requirement biasiswa, hendaklah tahu requirement kemasukan universiti. Start apply universiti 7 bulan sebelum anda grad. Baca betul2 sebelum mengambil exam ni, sebab kos memang mahal. Sekali IELTS, RM600 burn. Nasib baik akak pass dengan score seperti berikut

3. MOHON BIASISWA

Portobello Market

Today when I went to Portobello Market, I saw the exactly same venue that Jay Chou's used for his "Big Ben" MV. I am just wondered why the street is so clean when he went. No cars at all.

p/s: Vegetable at Portobello Market is really cheaper than Sainsbury or Tesco. I even bought a second hand wools coat for £2.

How I wish to post in Facebook

Every people going to everywhere when they are in UK. I only went to the place that can arrive by bus pass. It sounds so wrong if you use your parents' money to play instead of study. I even don't dare to buy a postcard at £1 for 15 pieces because I do not want to use the money for unnecessary things.

How I wish I can post my cooking in the Facebook, but I just feel it is so uneasy to let others know I come to London without a scholarship (yet). Here are some food I would like to share. The most delicious dish is Sambal Udang! xxx

And of course, a recent picture of me as someone might be missing me xD

And I just bought a new safety boots at £21.48. Its a men boots but I like it very much. Till now I still feel happy with the boots because it can't be found in Malaysia hahahha. Please praise it is nice as I spent money for this boots. I hope it can become my winter boots too so no need to spend my money again for footwear.

And my wish for now is, hopefully I get the scholarship which will be announce next week!

Take picture alone

Since no one take picture for me, I used timer to take some picture and surprisingly, it turned out to be very nice!
This picture was taken at the Victoria League Garden

This picture was taken when I came back from Tower Bridge

I bought my travelcard last week, so I can travel unlimited by tube last week. I will be so wasted is I did not go to the London icon, Tower Bridge. So, although my assignment can't finish on Sunday, I visited Tower Bridge! Tower Bridge always mistakenly known as London Bridge for the foreigner. It was so hard travelling alone to see the magnificent bridge. The tube route had been changed during the weekend and I was unsure which station to alight. I wandered a few times before I found it. It was so scary because I need to act like I was enjoying the surroundings but I was actually finding direction to the Tower Bridge. The middle of the tower bridge would open at that night, but I don't want to leave myself unsafe so I just travel back before dusk.

Clothes and Laundry

I would like to talk something about the differences between laundry in Malaysia and UK.

When doing laundry in UK, I need to reconsider again and again. First of all, it's expensive. In my house it is £1.70 per machine wash. And when I look at the lable new clothes I bought, "wash below this and that temperature", "hand wash only" blah blah blah, I was too confusing. Thus I made the decision to wash all my clothes by myself. So, guess what happen? The water from the clothes was dripping everywhere. :( People here just don't hang their clothes under the sun. (oh, I still need to get used to the four season country)

Another interesting thing is that, they don't use or sell pails here! When I try to type "PAIL" in www.argos.co.uk and www.ikea.com/gb/en/, the word "PAIL" can't be found at all. Besides that, I can't see any pail in the laundry room as well.
No pails is selling here!

Right, it takes time to get use to the life here. Still keeping my finger cross for JPA. ><

Going Around London

Ieda and me go to Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and China Town last Wednesday. Enjoy the view but hate walking.

Hyde Park

Dont know what is this building called

Its so beautiful

And me.

The well known Buckingham guard. It looked so fake.

Ieda with the guard

They are marching for the Guard Changing ceremony

Guard changing ceremony

There are so many people and I dont know where the horse came from

Me with Buckingham Palace

Ieda with the guard.

Me with big ben!

And this is the scene that we always saw in advertisement

Eye of London. The posing will be good without the umbrella!

Brought this at Primark. Guess how much it cost. 20 pound (approx RM100)! In Malaysia it would be RM200 and above

Long sleeves at Primark. The shirt is quite affordable here. The grey one is comfortable (6pound), the white one is surprisingly warming although it is not thick (5pound), the striped one (4pound).

Guess why am I so sad about this? Not the price but the expiry date!
Alright, these are some update from me today. I will update what I cooked, maybe tomorrow when I am free.

London

Okay I admit this is where am I now. I just don't like to 'announce' in the social website (to be exact Facebook and Twitter), cause it might makes people envy of me. Haha. It actually feel uneasy haha. However, I wrote this because I want my friends get update of my activities and also wrote down my memories when I can.

I flew to Dubai with Emirates, then to Heathrow, London with Qantas. The thing I like the most on the plane is the food! I always get to be served before other because I order Hindu Meals (can't eat beef). So below is my food, just share like others always did:

Emirates Dinner

Qantas Breakfast

After I reached (usually people use touched) Heathrow, I took Heathrow Connect to Paddington Station, where I met a very helpful UCL girl called Christine. She travelled all the way from Euston Station to Paddington Station to show me the way to Victoria League. Carrying a total of 37kg luggage all the was exhausted, plus it was really cold out there.

And after half an hour I guess, we reached Victoria League! And I must admitted that I really like this place and the atmosphere here. Here I list down why I like it:
1) It antique, vintage and Victoria-styled
2) There is a kitchen in my room (although it does not separated with my bed), and I pay the lowest rent
3) There are pianos and we are allowed to use it ! It is two grand pianos and one upright piano.
4) Printing (although is black and white) is free!
5) I get to see the fireplace.
6) There is a lovely park.
7) There is a tube
8) I am staying in the Ground floor.
9) The laundry fee here is so cheap than outside's, drying in shop outside is £2, but ours is 50p
10) Victoria League (VL) provide duvet and heater so I do not need to get mine. Save a lot of pounds.
11) Free UNLIMITED wifi and all bills are included in the rental !
12) The switch here is cute. There is a string to pull down when you want to switch on the lamp in the bathroom/ toilet (WC) and there is even a switch for the lamp in the lift !

Below is some of the picture about this place (there is one picture only for the moment, I will update more in these few days) :

My room. My room mate hasn't come. Its a twin room.
Victoria League front. I personally like it very much.

Switch that you can switch on and off the light in the lift
Oh and if you would like to send me some present, I will be very pleasant to receive it. Here is the address:
Victoria League, 55, Leinster Square, London W2 4PW.

IELTS Speaking Test on 27 February 2013

Tada, I am going to share my speaking test:

Part 1:
What is your name?
Do you work or are you a student?
Do you enjoy student life?
Which part do you enjoy the most?
Do you like photography?
Do you like to take photograph when you travel?
Why?
When is the last time you took photograph?

Part 2:
Describe a team project you have gone through.

Part 3:
What do you think we need project work?
What do you think a good leader should have?
What makes a good team?
What is the quality of a good team?
What else other than people?
Do you think children should expose to the team work?

(ps: The examiner din't let me speak for long answer in part 3. She just cut me off after I finished one sentence. This is quite different from the resources I get as they said I need to provide long answer for Part 3)

My schedule is on 3.15 PM but I started at 2.20 PM!

I think I speak quite fluent but I forget to notice I SHOULD USE PAST TENSE in Part 2!!!
Haiz, because of being too nervous!

Self-study for IELTS

For self-study student, I always advise you to start one month before the exam begin. Below is some useful website you can refer:

1. Website from an ex-examiner: http://ielts-simon.com/ielts-help-and-english-pr/
2. Essay correction (AUD19.95 or about RM64 for 8 essays checking): http://www.ielts-blog.com/check-your-ielts-writing/
3. Cambridge IELTS question: If you need the books, you can ask my help to get the books in hard copies at cheap rates. Last time i used to buy Cambridge 4 to 8 for only RM60 (including postage). Ps: Its imported from China and might need 1-2 weeks to reach your home, but it is exactly like the one sold in any book store! (pss: you can reach me via kwenying900103@gmail.com)
4. Target Band 7 is also recommended. :)

That's it!

I think that will be sufficient enough. I don't know how to train my speaking, seriously. Anyone?

IELTS in Malaysia on 23 February 2013

Hi everyone,

Its time for me to share my IELTS experience, although I still have speaking test on 27 February later.

I was taking the IELTS test on this morning in my own campus, UTM. It is quite convenient as I do not have to take a taxi to go to the examination hall.

The listening test is quite hard. Below is the some brief about my listening test:
Section 1: Situation in Airport
Section 2: Meeting in Library and the expansion of library
Section 3: A student how had just enroll in university and conversation with Dr
Section 4: About music industry

While the reading test has only 3 Yes/No/Not Given questions.
Passage 1: About adolescence
Passage 2: forgotten
Passage 3: forgotten
Passage 4: forgotten

Writing:
Task 1: A process decribes how rain water is collected for using as drinking water. It has 5 stages.
Task 2: cause and effect. The topic is about not enough student choosing study science subject in many countries.
ps: I dont know Vietnam has the same question like Malaysia!

Ok, just a few things to mention here. We were just allow to  bring ID (must) and watch (if need to use) into the examination hall. They also took our photos before the exam started. The pencil and the eraser given is pretty nice. :D

And one thing to be mention: no breaks between test. You are only given to go to the toilet on reading and writing test, and you cant go out 5 minutes before the exam ends. You are also not allow to go to the toilet when the instructions are given.

Fortunately, I managed to finish my reading test very soon and go to the toilet on the last 10 minutes.
Many of the candid went to the toilet during the writing test, because they thought they can go when the papers are collected, and they lost quite a number of time on that.

Please share with me about the speaking test if you had done it. I still need to improve.
